Italian chef Giancarlo Gottardo works in Turkey as corporate chef for Divan group. In his free time he is passionate about road cycling.
Born and raised in Palermo, Sicily, an Italian island, Giancarlo knew early on in life that food was his passion. Growing up he watched his mum avidly in the kitchen to learn all her secrets.
Soon Palermo became too small and Giancarlo moved to Milan to experience work in fine dine restaurants. In the mid 1990s he moved to New York, Chicago and LA where he worked as head chef in fine dining restaurants, catering to some famous actors as well as serious food lovers.
A phone call from the luxury hotel group Four Seasons made him move back to the old continent, to Istanbul, Turkey to assume the position of executive chef. He remained with the Four Seasons for almost a decade with stops in Cairo, Egypt and Beirut, Lebanon. 
Since 2012 he lives, cooks and cycles in Istanbul again - but this time for a Turkish company - Divan Group - as Corporate Chef. 
Founded in 1956, Divan Group has played a pioneering role in Turkish cuisine. Divan's food philosophy is based on healthy recipes and simplicity. It is about enjoying everything in a balanced and healthy way.
